Mooring rings & Wall plates

Mooring rings and wall plates are generally designed to be secured to a flat surface, allowing you to temporarily attach items with a rope or cable. Mooring rings are familiar from the water sports world. A boat can be moored to the ring with ropes to prevent it from floating away. Mooring rings and wall plates can also be used in many other places, such as in a garden. There, a plant can be secured with a rope. A mooring ring can also be used to secure an awning in the correct position.

Difference between mooring ring and wall plate

Mooring rings consist of a screw with a wooden thread, screwed into a plank. Instead of a screw head, the screw has a ring to which another ring is attached. A rope can be pulled through this second ring, used to moor a boat.

Wall plates are flat plates that are attached to a wall. This can be done with wood screws, but also with screws and plugs on a brick or concrete wall. The wall plate has a fixed eye through which a rope can be passed. There are square, round, and oblong wall plates. These are also known as deck eyes, mast eyes, and eye plates. To prevent mooring rings and wall plates from being damaged by water, they are made of metals that are not sensitive to moisture. Mooring rings are available in galvanized steel and stainless steel. Wall plates are almost always made of stainless steel. The load capacity of wall plates and mooring rings can vary considerably. Mooring rings and wall plates with two screw holes are intended for lighter applications. Wall plates with a large plate and four screw holes can handle a much greater load. A prerequisite is that they are attached to a solid surface. If the surface is too soft, the screws will loosen quite easily.
