A 1-meter, plain 8.8 DIN976 threaded rod is widely used in construction, industry, agriculture, horticulture, and other situations where structures must be assembled precisely. A threaded rod is a round metal rod with a metric thread along its entire length. This 1-meter, plain 8.8 DIN976 threaded rod is available in sizes M6 to M36 for all standard thread sizes. The strength of these threaded rods is indicated by a number. Common strength ratings are 4.8 and 8.8. A 1-meter, plain 8.8 DIN976 threaded rod is not treated to prevent corrosion, so it cannot be used in damp conditions.
Application threaded rod
Threaded rods can be used in a variety of ways. They are often anchored into the wall in barns, stables, and industrial warehouses. A threaded rod extends from the wall, allowing for the mounting of structures at precisely the right distance from the wall. By clamping objects to the threaded rod between two nuts, a strong structure is created. If necessary, it can be dismantled later, after which the bare 8.8 DIN976 1-meter threaded rod can be reused to attach another structure. For demountable structures, use nuts or wing nuts and flat washers.
Customize threaded rod
A bare 8.8 DIN 976 threaded rod measuring 1 meter is usually too long. Fortunately, a threaded rod can easily be cut to size with a sharp hacksaw. When starting the cut, be careful not to move the saw blade too far sideways over the thread, as this will damage the thread. After sawing off a section of threaded rod, you can repair the damaged thread at the end with a file, so the nut can be easily screwed onto the rod. A trick for repairing damaged threads over longer lengths is to screw a nut over the entire length of the threaded rod from the other side.
