When we hear the word "circlips," we naturally immediately think of the word "securing." And indeed, circlips are used to secure things, or more simply, to close, lock, or secure them. The curved shape of the spring is immediately noticeable. It's not without reason that circlips are also sometimes called hairpin springs. The wavy steel allows the circlip to be easily clamped around something.
Single vs. double circlips
Within the world of circlips, there are two categories: single circlips and double circlips. The difference lies in the opening of the eye. While single circlips have an open eye, double circlips have a closed eye. The opening makes a single circlip slightly more flexible, while the closed eye makes it slightly firmer. It's all a matter of preference.
Why buy single circlips?
Single circlips have a huge variety of applications. We regularly see them in construction, for example, when a metal eyebolt needs to be secured, but also at festivals and events, or even simply at home to secure a bicycle trailer. As you can see, there are a surprising number of applications, and it's no wonder that single circlips are so popular.
